1. Introduction 1.1 This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out the terms that govern Your use of the Services, Equipment, and Fibre provided by Lit Fibre Ltd (Company number 13138313), whose registered office is located at 400 Thames Valley Park Drive, Reading, England, RG6 1PT ("Us" or "We").
1.2 This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of Your Agreement with Us. It applies to all business customers and governs all use of the Services, Fibre and Equipment supplied by Us, whether used by You or by any Authorised Users.
1.3 Definitions set out in the Agreement apply to this Policy. In addition, the following definitions apply:
Authorised Users: Your employees, contractors, agents, or any other individual authorised by You to access or use the Services.
Customer Data: Any data (including personal data) that You or Your Authorised Users transmit, store, or process using the Services.
Permitted Purpose: The use of the Services, Fibre and Equipment solely for lawful business operations within Your organisation.
Virus: Any malicious software, code, or program including malware, ransomware, spyware, trojans, and disabling code.
1.4 If You do not agree to comply with this Policy, You must not use the Services.
2. Permitted Use and Restrictions 2.1 You and Your Authorised Users may only use the Services for the Permitted Purpose.
2.2 You must not use, or permit use of, the Services, Fibre or Equipment:
2.2.1 in any way that breaches applicable laws or regulations;
2.2.2 to commit or facilitate any act of fraud;
2.2.3 to distribute Viruses or other harmful software;
2.2.4 to abuse, harass, or threaten others;
2.2.5 to transmit unsolicited communications (spam);
2.2.6 to conduct phishing or similar fraudulent activity;
2.2.7 to disrupt the networks, systems or operations of Us or third parties;
2.2.8 to harm or exploit minors;
2.2.9 in connection with life-critical or hazardous uses where failure could cause injury or property damage;
2.2.10 to promote unlawful activity or distribute illegal content;
2.2.11 in a way that degrades or impairs the Services or any other customer’s experience;
2.2.12 to run public-facing services (e.g. websites, email servers) without our prior written consent;
2.2.13 to operate peer-to-peer file sharing or crypto-mining software without permission;
2.2.14 to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or damage Our Equipment or infrastructure.
3. Customer Responsibilities 3.1 You are responsible for:
3.1.1 securing and configuring Your internal network and devices;
3.1.2 ensuring strong access controls and password policies are implemented;
3.1.3 preventing unauthorised access to the Services;
3.1.4 ensuring any third-party software or hardware connected to the Services does not compromise network integrity;
3.1.5 compliance by all Authorised Users with this Policy.
4. Customer Data and Content Standards 4.1 All Customer Data and communication using the Services must:
4.1.1 be lawful, accurate, and not misleading;
4.1.2 not contain Viruses or other harmful code;
4.1.3 not promote discrimination, hate, or violence;
4.1.4 not infringe any intellectual property rights;
4.1.5 not misrepresent affiliation with Us;
4.1.6 not encourage or promote terrorism or criminal activity.
5. Intellectual Property and Branding 5.1 You may not:
5.1.1 create frames or overlays around Our content;
5.1.2 use or reproduce any of Our trade marks or logos without permission;
5.1.3 imply any endorsement or association with Us unless expressly authorised.
6. Legal Compliance and Data Protection 6.1 You are solely responsible for ensuring Your use of the Services complies with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
data protection regulations (e.g. UK GDPR);
electronic communications laws;
sector-specific compliance obligations.
7. Breach and Enforcement 7.1 We may take appropriate action in response to any actual or suspected breach of this Policy. This includes:
7.1.1 issuing a written warning;
7.1.2 temporary or permanent suspension of Services (in whole or part);
7.1.3 termination of Your Agreement;
7.1.4 legal proceedings and recovery of related costs;
7.1.5 notifying relevant regulatory or law enforcement authorities.
7.2 We may take any other action We reasonably deem appropriate and are not liable for any consequences arising from enforcement measures taken in good faith.
