The Optical Network Terminal (ONT) is the gateway between your router and the City Fibre Network. ONT's come in many shapes, colours and sizes, but all give you access to our speedy full-fibre service. If you are wondering what the lights on your ONT mean, and why they are flashing... then look no further! We will demystify those disco lights for you.
If your ONT is showing that you have a good service, but you are still having issues, take a look at these handy router guides for more troubleshooting support!
When Installation day comes, City Fibre will need to install your ONT for you, their engineer will advise on the best location to install the device, based on the following factors:
The location must be well ventilated, dry and not directly exposed to sunlight.
The ONT requires at least 50cm of space around the location to allow for ventilation.
No other devices should be placed on top of the ONT and the device should be kept away from electrical appliances with strong magnetic fields or strong electric fields, such as microwave ovens, refrigerators, and mobile phones.
We're straightforward, customer-obsessed and promise not to blind you with science. So go ahead, ask us anything.
